Amigdalitis

So last time I wrote, Chile was getting the best of me. I caved, went to the doctors and walked out $120 poorer (tonsillitis-yipee!). However, I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient the whole hospital experience was. I walked in, and on the ground floor there are a bunch of receptionists. You talk to them, tell them what's wrong, and then they determine which floor you should go to, depending on your ailments. I was to be sent up to floor 9, but there were no available appointments right away, so I was given a slip w/ the name of a doctor and told to come back at 3:30. I went back around 3ish, went to the 9th floor where you take a number (they love those suckers here). Your number gets called, you check in and pay your doctor visit fee (60 bones for a one off visit). Then you sit back down and wait to be called by your doc. There were like 13 different rooms/physicians. At nearly 330 on the dot, my appointed doctora calls my name and I go back. It was a super quick exam: blood pressure, temp check (old fashioned glass under the arm), then she checked my throat and after exclaiming "aaah si, esa es el problema" (no shit sherlock) I was dressed & out the door with my prescription for my antibiotics in hand! If I had a Staples "Easy" button, I would've pressed it. Right across the street was the pharmacy, showed them my slip & got my meds (another 60 down the drain) and I was on my way back home for a week of rest.

So, in the past 3 days I've drunk an insane amount of tea, watched a few movies, caught up on a few tv shows, sudoku-d, surfed the Internet (ie, spent a ridiculous amount of time on facebook) and that's about it. haha. Here's to 2 more days of antibiotics & tea & laziness!
